Creating and designing come natural to me. As I come from a long line of tailors, and seamstress from as far back as the eighteenth century. When my paternal ancestors were brought to Puerto Rico, as slaves. My ancestor, instead of being placed in the sugar cane fields, was taught to tailor for the plantation owners. This craft was then passed generation to generation. When slavery was abolished, my great grandfather was able to start his own business, bought land, and was fairly prosperous for those times. The plantation is currently a historical site in the town of Moca, Puerto Rico.
As a child, I designed gowns just for fun. I love to sew. A few years ago, I started JERDESIGN (Design by Ernie), making drapes for homes. As my husband and I are part of the Leather community in New Jersey, it seemed only natural that I should start making leather wear. So, when I retired from my day job, I started making leather wear for those that enjoy wearing custom fitting leather clothing. And of course all made in the USA.
It is also with great pride that I served in the Vietnam Conflict (was stationed in Saigon), while in the U.S. Air Force. My husband served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict as well.
